Biplane in Orange Clouds
Acrylic on Canvas – November 2015
The day that we went to pick my dad up from the airport, the sky held magnificent orange clouds. They were so orange they looked like a creamsicle bar. Being early, we stopped to take some photos and then went inside. There inside was a bright yellow biplane. I immediately knew that I wanted to try to paint one, as I like to paint modes of transportation.. particularly those that are vintage or use natural green energy. Biplanes aren’t exactly green, but vintage they are! Another major theme I tackled with painting this was the thought of making the impossible, possible. When I started painting the clouds I realized that I had put down blue paint and wanted to paint orange clouds. Basic kindergarten color lesson.. blue and orange do not make orange.. or really any pretty color you would want to see in the sky. But I made it work! Also having never painted a biplane before it made me think about These are the things I like to ponder.
