There are not many Taiwanese dramas that I love MORE that Fated To Love You. So, when I heard that it was being remade into a Korean drama not too far back, that got me pretty excited!!

I’m feeling a tad bit OVERLY optimistic that this remake is gonna be a good one. However, as we all know, not all Asian drama remakes are made equally. Take the Boys Over Flowers series instance. That drama as most of us already know, was first made by Taiwan (Meteor Garden), and then remade by Japan (Hana Yori Dango) and then Korea. As for which version is the best will always be a topic for debate. There are some that prefer the smexiness of Lee Min Ho and his oversized hairdo. And, I can see why.

Personally, I prefer the Japanese version, and I could go on and on about my reasons why. Which group of F4 members are the most badass? That’s not for me (or any of us for that matter) to ultimately decide.

This one is starring Jang Hyuk as the male lead. His most recent drama ‘Iris’ was pretty popular during it’s time, and also made a cameo in My Sassy Girl, a drama I enjoyed. However, the rest of his repertoire is slightly less well known, although he has been making dramas since 1997. Jang Nara stars opposite Jang Hyuk, and her most recent role was in School 2013. Consider neither of these actors is super popular at the moment, I’m suspecting that this drama will help boost their career somewhat.

For me, I really loved the Taiwanese version of this one, so I guess you could say that from my perspective, my standards for the Korean remake will be fairly high. I know they can’t make it the same as Taiwan, and I’m not expecting them to. And knowing the storyline, I have certain expectations that possibly will not be met. However, Korean dramas more recently have been gaining momentum more recently (You Who Came From The Stars anyone?!!) so we should expect more as time progresses, right?

I sure hope this one is one to watch for all of us. We like being able to kick back, cup of tea in hand, put our feet up, and watch an episode of a drama that we not only enjoy but that is well made. Here’s hoping the New Korean drama Fated To Love You is just that: a drama in 2014 worth watching.

Happy Drama Watching everyone! ☺
