Abstract Acrylic on Canvas – 2013

I was thinking of fairytales and somehow thought upon Sleeping Beauty.  I had read a very old version when I was a little girl and the fairies all had hats that looked like flowers.  I was trying to do a yellow umbrella painting but the two ideas clashed in my head and then meshed.  When combined with the Disney story of Sleeping beauty I found myself really loving the green “fairy” Fauna  – While Flora (red) gave beauty, Merriweather (blue) was all about kissing a prince and they alerted Malificent of their presence by fighting over dress colors – Fauna gave the gift of song.  A gift that could legitimately support her, a talent, an ability.  She also was about trying to cook without using her magic even though she couldn’t.  Flora is my fav!
