Abstract Acrylic on Canvas
I was trying to think of some of the spirit that captures Korea, and I couldn’t help but think of Gangnam. It’s the hope of Korea, where those with the most money and therefore the best education and brightest futures reside. It’s fast paced, so fast that sometimes it’s like a blur a whirlwind where it’s easy to get lost in the midst of the crowds of people and buildings that reach for the sky. There lies also the 63 building. The tallest building in Seoul, you can’t miss its bright golden facade that reflects off the edge of the Han where it lies. In the midst of a place that revolves around green and blue paper money, the golden 50,000 and the golden 63 building inspire hope for a prosperous future. It inspired me to try to paint this hope for a golden Korean future.
