“Hidden Truth” – July 2015
Acrylic on Canvas
This painting is a reflection that not all truths are hard to face or once you face them are desirable to keep. In the process of creating this one I literally wrote the word truth on the canvas in green paint and then covered it with what I felt was a gorgeous golden “oceanic” scene. It is reminiscent of a moment I had back in college where I took some wooden items (carved and given to me by my ex who had really hurt me) and threw them off a bridge and then watched them disappear into the river below. The sad part is, I was trying to forget but didn’t remember to forgive at the same time.
However, I’ve grown up a lot and learned many things since then. But I hadn’t ever tried to forgive myself. This painting is kind of my way of showing the process of forgiving myself for putting myself in positions where I was hurt in the past.
