Korean Castle in Autumn

Korean Castle in Autumn
Acrylic on Canvas – September 2017

In Suwon, where we lived in South Korea, there was a walled castle that surrounded part of the city. One day in autumn in 2014 when Richard was having a hard time sleeping he went for a walk. There he saw a morning market and took a beautiful photo showcasing the crisp weather and life around the castle. Despite it being a very modern city, the photo and this painting seems almost timeless, or rather lost in time. It could be in the ancient past or modern day. Regardless, it’s magnificent.
