“Lay Me Down”
Acrylic on Canvas – November 2015
As I finished this painting I was reminded of the song “What the Water Gave Me”. It’s one part giving up and another part just becoming. I have not always loved water or swimming. I can still recall at least one instance where I was sure that I was going to drown and only once I calmed down was I able to remember how to get out of the situation. I find that sometimes life is like that. In all our years together, I’ve never really swam much around Richard. I typically prefer to keep my feet on the ground and my head above water. But this trip, I tried to let go and remember how to enjoy swimming.
Here’s the part of the chorus that I felt was my swimming anthem this month:
Lay me down
Let the only sound
Be the overflow..
