Pinwheel Perspectives Cliffside by the Shore
“Pinwheel Perspectives – Cliffside by the Shore”
Acrylic on Canvas – April 2017

For these four paintings, I had placed the color on all the canvases as they were laid out in a pinwheel shape. I then looking at the paint on the individual canvas tried to create four uniquely different paintings in one sitting.

The first of the paintings that I completed, this one turned into a cliffside by the ocean. I feel that there is a lot of meaning behind this one as I was saying goodbye to my sister, and looking towards a month of painting and raising for St. Jude, knowing that I’ve never really raised any significant amount of money in my life.. and also dealing with some personal financial things with the YouTube adpocolypse and doing a lot of important (but expensive) updates on our house and the airbnb that we own.. trying to have faith and remain calm because I know it’s all going to be ok but at the moment it doesn’t feel like it. My paintings (and in turn these blog entries) are like a personal journal where I dig deep and try to peel back the layers – not everytime but often. Especially paintings like these pinwheel perspectives where I want to express my heart and care more about that than a beautiful painting. To be at a cliffside is to be where the earth meets sea and sky. To look into both the conscious and unconscious and to search for answers.. and that is exactly what I was trying to do.
