My goal for this painting was to be a fun surrealist style painting with a quirky take on a science theme.  There are many potential astronauts in training out there that carry lunchboxes around.. it’s just that most of them are in elementary school!  Seriously though, I find that for many people like myself who are self proclaimed geeks or nerds that there’s a huge interest in both Asian culture and science fiction.  This painting I feel combines the two in a way that just makes me smile.
