Take Life by the Handlebars
Abstract Acrylic on Canvas – March 2015
Richard and I went for a drive the other day through the city of Rochester around sunset where we recently made our home. He and his mother have been trying to teach me about my new stomping grounds, the history of the city and where you should go and what you should do. It once was and still is quite the magnificent city. The other day as we were driving we went across a bridge that had the most beautiful view of the city and on either side was a park that went along the Genessee River (I believe that’s what it was anyways).
Someday, when this snow is finally past for the year, then we’ll get some bicycles and make our way over to this bridge and park. I was reflecting on this when Richard mentioned that one of you lovelies suggested that I paint a bicycle.. while we were listening to Bombay Bicycle Club and I thought it was destined to be in a painting!
What came out was just the handlebars.. but really, as I grow in this new city and new environment, that’s what I want to do – to take life on by the handlebars and race off into the sunset!
