It’s officially June! I can’t begin to describe how I’ve been longing for this month to come. I think my desire for warm weather started about the same time that I came back from my honeymoon in Thailand and got a full taste of Korean winter – it’s cold yo! In Korea, June also signals the beginning of the end of the first semester of school. As a student that means a load of final research papers to write – and thus, a lot of work. Not looking forward to that part (though I’ve started, which is more than I can say for my undergrad). Lesson that I had to learn in my adult life – don’t procrastinate until the last minute. Start early so that you can procrastinate all along and intermingle your homework writing time with drama watching time! Yup, that sounds about right.

I’ve been watching and reviewing a lot of recent Korean dramas for TOAD – because they’re popular. But in my personal drama watching time lately I’ve been really into the Rich Guy/Poor Girl Cinderella concept. It’s quite the great escape from monotonous homework and frankly, sometimes the older dramas are better than the newer ones because they’re not trying so hard. Here’s 20 great Korean dramas that will make you want to leave behind your glass slipper.

So those are my personal top 20. That’s not to say that there aren’t other dramas that could be included in here – and heck I’m half tempted to make a rich girl poor guy list – because I love it when dramas flip things on their heads. Any suggestions for that list? But if you’re looking for a drama to check out – here’s a few good ones that might be worth your time. Ugh back to paper writing! >.<

Happy Drama Watching!!

So, like usual with your Top 5 videos I break out the pen and paper so I can build up my “To Be Watched” list. 3…there are only 3 dramas from this list of 20 that I haven’t seen. Don’t know whether that’s good or bad. LOVED the list! 18, 10, and 5 are already on my To be watched list. But thanks!

    • hallyuback

Only 3 out of 20?!? That’s incredible. That’s some serious dramathoning right there.. ;D

      • Arthea Emory

Meh…I do what I can. 116 down…so many more to go! (and i am keeping a list. both watched and to be watched)

      • Arthea Emory

Only because I wanted to follow up. I’m up to 150 and after I’ve finished He Who Can’t Marry (151) I’ll start the Lovers trilogy. Then I will have watched all the series in this list. This is what happens when you are unemployed, find something that you love, and an easy way to access that joy. Thanks again for sharing in my joy!

        • hallyuback

Well I’m glad to help you on your happiness quest! ^^

I loved King2Hearts but the girl was the daughter of a major NK General. So I didn’t count her as poor – or it would have totally made it! ^w^

WOW! Is it sad to say I’ve pretty much watched all of those and more…LOL! But I love these kind of stories also. They are mostly the typical K-drama shows I watch but its nice to throw in some off the wall K-dramas that you can’t believe is actually one…LOL! I loved that the “The Nice Guy” was a a change of pace when I watched it and I almost didn’t watch it because it didn’t seem to fall into my K-drama category but I’m so glad I didn’t miss out. The same goes for some others that I finally watched and I’m glad I did. Right now my K-drama love is a show called “Heartless City” which is also outside of the box of the K-drama world and I <3 it! Love all your vids Steph and keep up the great work! Love ya!

    • Kambria Sturgeon

Btw Steph…you do realize you used the wrong picture for “My Princess”? You used the one from “My Girl” instead…LOL! It’s all good because you used that picture for “My Girl” when it came up…LOL! Also, you’re hubby was so cute in this video…it was nice seeing the two of you together…I loved it! Did you finally watch “Secret Garden”…how did you like it???!!!

  • lulu lala
