A new month is almost here, and Korea looks to be producing another group of good-looking dramas, including 2 that are Japanese remakes! Speaking of which, they have some tentative casting done for Liar Game, including Lee Sang Yoon, Kim So Eun, and Shin Sung Rok. Of course, that all may change with time. And, in case you didn’t know, it’s only gonna be ten episodes so.. easy to watch!

Naildo Cantabile (which is the Korean renamed version of Nodame Cantabile) looks like it’s gonna be the next big hit! I might be jumping to conclusions on that one, but I’m willing to take that risk. It stars Joo Won who’s star power continues to increase with each drama he stars in, because damn that kid can act. Yoona was initially in the line-up for Naildo, but thank goodness she backed out. And their first choice, Shim Eun Kyung agreed to take it on. This is one of those dramas that requires strong acting ability so hopefully she can bring it. If you’re a fan of classical music, then I DEFINITELY recommend that you check it out. That being said, if you’re NOT a fan of classical music, don’t immediately write this one off until you give it a shot. It reinvents classical music in a fun, playful manner that you’re probably not expecting….. unless you’ve already seen the Japanese version.

The one that Richard has affectionately dubbed ‘The Underdog’ is Modern Farmer. Personally I think that this one could actually be a break out hit even though I’ve been promoting and playing up the other two because it has a sort of all star flower boy cast. You have some famous people. There not super famous, but they’re famous enough and good looking and they’re singing and…. I guess they’re gonna be farming in this one too? I make a joke about hoeing, but then I’d kick myself. It’s late.

Korea does seem to be attempting to raise the bar on the quality of dramas it continues to produce, and this can only benefit us Korean drama lovers in the long run. I remembering looking back on the year and thinking ‘How is Korea going to EVER live up to ‘You Who Came From The Stars’? And while maybe there have been no dramas that can truly compete with that dramas, it hasn’t been a bad year for drama watching at all. In fact, it may be my favorite year of drama watching to date.

And that my dear friends is saying a lot.

Happy Drama Watching. ☺

I agree with You in 100% about Nodame Cantabile ^^ Manga was great, anime was better and drama was the best ever! It’s like this for me because classical music is realy important part of this story and because of this anime is more alive (?) than manga, plus we have actors in drama so…. You know what I mean ^^
Rhapsody in Blue by Gershwin, Piano Concerto by Rachmaninoff and more of beautiful music! Plus all of this story is at the same time funny and serious and this is what I like to watch :) I am a little scared if they are going to do well with remake but I believe in power of K-dramas XD

    And Hello from Poland ^^

I hear ya. 😀 If Fated to Love You is any indication, it seems like the Korean drama remakes are starting to get better. Hopefully this keeps up with the two dramas coming out this month!

My boyfriend doesn’t like k-dramas, but he loves manga “Liar game” ^^ There is big possibility that he will agree to watch this one with me XD So “hwaiting” new remakes!

I am curious about Rosy Lovers. although I think it was a mistake to cast a newbie such as Han Sun-Hwa in a long family drama. She was just OK in Marriage Not Dating. Not an actress for a lead yet, IMO. But I do like Lee Jang-Woo, and I am super curious about Han Ji-Sang who is currently one of the darlings of Korean Musical theater. See this article: http://www.koreaherald.com/view.php?ud=20140102000970. I am also curious to know more about Pride and Prejudice.. They have not secured the cast yet, but the director Kim Jin-Min did do some terrific works, including Soldier, Time Between Dog and Wolf, and Shin Don. I am interested in Naildo Cantabile, mostly because Joo Won came from Musical Theater, but we have not yet seen him in a drama that used these talents. I do like classical music too. Very interested in Bad Guys.. Loving the cast, esp. Kim Sang-Joong and Park Hae Jin. Love crime drama/thrillers. No interest in Modern Farmer. I wish Lee Hong Ki do another rom-com instead.. Liar Game – I am bummed that Sin Seong-Rok is again relegated to a 2nd lead position. I also look forward to MBN’s tears of Heaven (I’d watch anything with Seo Joon-Young) http://www.dramabeans.com/2014/09/mbn-rejoins-dramaland-with-tears-of-heaven/

I’m with you on the Sin SeongRok – I was really hoping he was the guy taking Shota’s place. It would make it a much more viewable drama. I also want to know more about Pride and Prejudice but it looks like that one may be coming out in November so it wasn’t on this list! Thanks for your input and the links! ^^
