Wildfire

“Wildfire”
Acrylic on Canvas – March 2017

I’ve been really angry lately. Maybe I was delusional, but I feel that there were certain standards and things that people cared about growing up that I held as very important that are currently being thrown out the window. Things like taking care of this planet that we live on rather than shitting where we sleep. Things like caring for ALL people and making sure that we do what we can to make sure that they have the basic requirements (food, shelter, clothes, hope, etc.) to live. I was taught that hunting was a right of passage that was sacred, and that poachers or those who killed just to kill things were the worst kinds of people. I was taken to national parks, learned to camp, and to respect people and animals.
My heart is crying out. Screaming at times. We’ve strived so hard to be an individualistic society that we’ve forgotten that we’re all in this together – that deep down we have the same issues, heartaches.. When did we start thinking that we are better than others? When did we start placing people, land, animals as worthless? When did messages of love become messages of hate? As I write this, tears are gathering in my eyes and I’m sick to my stomach. It burns inside of me – a desire to restore peace and return balance to nature and humanity.
