Acrylic on Canvas – December 2015
This is one of the only paintings that I did in December. It was a busy month and a lot of my free artsy time was spent making Christmas cookies and decorating the house.. and frankly, sometimes I need to take a vacation break from painting and recharge my creative juices. This one is inspired in part by my mother-in-law who gave me some paper white lilies to force bloom in my window. As a rule I don’t often keep fresh flowers in the house and especially not lilies because they bother my allergies and are extremely poisonous to cats (and I love Maki more than pretty flowers). But these I grew on a window out of her reach until they all bloomed and my allergies couldn’t take it anymore. They were absolutely beautiful though so I took a few photos against our dark red walls and then let them go.
It actually made a great analogy for me, because sometimes there are things in your life that while they seem lovely are actually quite toxic in the long run. Appreciate the time you had, keep the memories but overhaul that which needs to go! Talk about a great message for a new year!
