“A Very Rainy Day”

A week ago (May 30th to be exact) Richard and I went on a bike ride through downtown Rochester. We were both being a little moody but were trying to make the most of it. We were about a third of the way to our destination when it started pouring down rain. I had speculated that this was going to happen and that I was right did not help my mood at all. I was not happy. We found a bridge to duck under along the Genessee River to wait out the rain under cover. It didn’t stop right away, but when the sun started to come out the colors on the city were beautiful! So beautiful in fact that I had an impromptu photoshoot with my new bicycle which I am in love with. As the sun came out and we started trying to capture the magnificent views, we forgot our grumpiness and simply enjoyed being together which was the reason for the bike ride in the first place.

This painting reflects my feelings in that moment as the sun shone on downtown Rochester and I knew that in time I would find that this too could indeed be home.
