“Anime”

This one I started painting and then realized I was stuck. The vision that I had wasn’t coming across as how I wanted to portray it on canvas. It started to get a little too deep for the light and fun colors that had been chosen. And so I took an alternate route. I started thinking about what I really like but don’t always get to indulge myself in. The first thing that came to mind was Anime. It’s been a huge part of what makes me tick and there would be no HallyuBack, maybe I’d never have the desire to live in Asia, never have lived in Korea and would never have my husband and our baby Maki (for starters) if I’d never watched Anime.

This painting in particular to me captures some of the feel of the Anime eyes, particularly in the genres that I used to watch. They’re big and expressive and somehow make a myriad of situations cute and conquerable. Did I mention I just love anime?
