“Autumn Reds and Yellows”

Autumn is my favorite season of the year and in this painting I was trying to capture the tree colors that are the reason why this is so. In looking at this painting it almost appears as if the red tree in losing its leaves is also embracing the yellow tree. Though not intentional, it is appropriately symbolic to me. I feel that there is no way one person can really love and support another without leaving themselves open and vulnerable. This opening up of the heart requires a bit of ego breaking. It’s a process that in life and in marriage I feel that I’m continually learning and re-learning.
