Ballet Shoe in Red

Another request that had recently been made was for a ballet piece. To me, there is something terribly magnificent about ballet dancers. I myself took several years when I was little but was never able to obtain the coveted toe shoes.. Dance classes cost A LOT of money and at that point in time – money was tight. I was disappointed but I understood. I threw myself into musical theater instead and later swing dancing. In a way, I’m grateful that I didn’t have to undergo the pain and foot problems of dancing en point. But I admire those who do. To me they’re strong and brilliant.

I think I chose the color red because it’s such a strong color itself.. there was a point in time in my life where everything had to be red – not because it was my favorite color but because it gave me strength.
