“Child of Light”

I honestly didn’t know what to title this painting when I first saw it. The title comes from one of you who wrote that it reminded you of the Child of Light game to which I looked it up and thought that title fits perfectly.

My inspiration was a mental image I had. I was thinking about my own childhood and the fantasies I used to have. Growing up, we lived on the cove of a manmade lake. I was a very imaginative little girl and I often used to write stories and send flowers and talk to “the Spirit” and those who lay beyond our world. This painting is a bit of an older fiercer take on that concept. It’s a girl holding a candle, waiting, praying in a beautiful but fierce world. Her prayer – that somewhere out there are more people willing to light and hold their candles and shine a light to try to create a better world.
