“Colorful Tree in a Barren Landscape”

Paintings to me are often a reflection of what is going on in my mind and where I am in life. The day that I painted this I was kind of sad. To be quite honest the day before I had come to some rather painful realizations about myself, and my past. Hubby had been trying to cheer me up earlier that day and we had gone on a lovely walk in a nearby park to look at the changing leaves. When I came back I had resolved to paint a somewhat dreary “rainy day” type autumn painting with a singular tree losing its leaves. What ended up transpiring was a painting that actually is more optimistic than I had anticipated. The tree is extremely vibrant and looks very similar to the most beautiful tree that I had seen on our walk. I guess what I took from it is that sometimes things seem a bit bleak but there is always life and energy if you choose to look for it. Does that make sense? It does to me.
