“Finding the Force Within”

I went to the opening weekend of The Last Jedi and was blown away by so many aspects of the movie. I had since I was a very young child been a fan of the Star Wars franchise. Admittedly, Ewoks had been my favorite back then as I had played with an Ewok tree house like it was a barbie house and even had a board game that I thought was the best thing ever! Anyways, this Star Wars movie was really instrospective for me as I thought about the symbolism of the two types of forces and how they both resonated and of the symbolism of the Jedi island.
To me I could clearly see the symbolism of the Grey Jedi and how despite that being the path that was “supposed” to be, that the flaws in humanity made the dark vs. light war happen. When really the force is about co-existence. I found this beautiful and wanted to create a painting that symbolized the birth of this conception and (ignoring the fact that in the movie the tree burned down) that life and beauty can come from something seen as long forgotten. Also I loved the digital overlay of porgs on actual local wildlife so they could let them be in their own habitat.
