“Glowing Waters”

Glow in the Dark Acrylic on Canvas

I painted this live on steam to test out some new glow in the dark acrylic paint. The image is of a lovely sunset sky that’s reflecting on water spilling over a rock cropping into little rainbow waterfalls. It is a subject matter that while it appears like it would be an easy thing to create, the image of waterfalls is always something that I struggle to paint. I have many good memories of spending time with friends visiting Niagara Falls, swimming in waterfalls with my hubby on our honeymoon & visiting little forest waterfalls with my family. But I also have some very traumatic memories that waterfalls can sometimes trigger. As I often go very deep emotionally when I paint, this has the potential to spiral me down into a whirlpool of sad. This painting however, maybe it was the glow in the dark elements, the vibrant colors or maybe just because it was painted live and I couldn’t dig in quite so deep – it brought me joy. I hope that it brings you joy as well.
