It’s no secret how much we love Korean food! Who doesn’t these days? It’s probably the number one thing Richard and I miss most about living away from Korea.
We recently took a trip to Montreal, Canada where we were visiting our friend Natacha who lives there. We first met Natacha when she visited Korea last fall. We hung out, had dinner together and shared a few good laughs. At the time, we had no idea we would be moving home to NY.
Natacha invited us to Montreal several months ago, and we had been trying to find a few days when we were free to visit. It’s about a 6 hour drive from where we live in NY, which means if we were gonna visit we’d have to stay at least overnight. It turned into a 3 day, 2 night trip, and boy was it a good one!
Our first full day in Montreal was incredible! We began by driving into downtown and parking where Natacha works. She took us walking down by the waterfront and old town. We slowly made our way back to the city center stopping in Chinatown, and eventually had lunch. Korean food of course. If we had to guess, it may have been the best Korean restaurant downtown. We haven’t eaten a tremendous amount of Korean food at restaurant since moving home, and this was easily our best Korean meal outside Korea to date. We did some more Korean convenient store shopping, and also stopped in a Korean cosmetics store. We returned back to Natacha’s home after that to take a rest.
When it was time for dinner, we left the house and had no idea what type of food we’d be eating. Long story short it was Korean BBQ, and as tasty as lunch was, it beat it out. Like seriously.
Two Korean meals in a single day outside of Korea at two different Korean restaurants. Never thought I’d get Korean overstimulation in Montreal.
Not that I’m complaining 🙂
