“Looking Up at the Swirling Vortex of the Night Sky”
Acrylic on Canvas – January 2018
Created in 2 parts, this was the last painting I completed before we left for vacation this year. I think that’s somewhat symbolic to me – as prior to that painting session it was a swirling mess. Sometimes life gets to feeling that way – where it’s all just a soup of tasks that need accomplished, and feelings both good and bad to where you don’t know where you stand in the midst of it anymore. That’s where perspective comes into play to put it all into place and helps you breathe again. I knew that as we were going on vacation and leaving our computers behind that I was going to get to step outside of the swirling vortex that was “daily life” and breathe. In doing so, as I came back to it, I can do so with a more mature attitude and renewed purpose to where life is no longer swallowing me – but I’m looking at it in awe. Because though it feels overwhelming at times, it really is oh so cool!
