“Maki in Red (Connection)”

This is my 4th piece in my Maki collection – a collection based on our cat who’s named Maki. While she’s a Russian blue, I decided to go opposite of the blue that I usually paint her in and go with a red shade. She’s also eye to eye with a dragonfly, looking at it in wonder and connecting with it if you will. While she normally likes to eat bugs, I’ve seen her be utterly fascinated by butterflies and moths more than just merely in hunting mode. Knowing she’s never really seen a dragonfly, this is what my imagination envisioned the encounter being like.
