I’ve been doing ‘Top 5 Fridays’ for almost 7 months now (wow time really does fly!) and this was definitely one of the more memorable ones. They all have their own uniqueness to them, but this one special for a number of notable reasons.
First off, this is the very first video I have ever created for YouTube that had anything to do at all with Kim Hye Soo (김혜수). This is significant because she’s one of the only people in Korea that I have ever met that has some sort of celebrity status. I had the unique opportunity of being an extra in an Indie film she participated where my husband was the Assistant Director. We spent all day there shooting the movie and I got to see her perform her art first hand. Holy Toledo is she talented! She was BY FAR the best actor there that day, and just being there in the movie as an extra I learned a ton about what it may be like to be a legitimate actor. The whole crew from the movie also had dinner with her after the shoot, and I actually got to sit directly across from her! This allowed me to understand a little bit more about her life and success as famous actor in Korea, some of the work she has been a part of, as well as a little bit about her personal life. It was an unforgettable experience and one I’ll take with me as I continue to make YouTube videos about Asian dramas myself.
Another big reason this video was quite the memorable experience is because it was shot and edited during a period of considerable transition for Hallyu Back. Maybe you noticed the new logo in the bottom left portion of the video. Or, the fact that the font for my Facebook page at the end of the video has changed. Rick and I realize that we need to have a space to put these awesome videos we have been making, so we’ve have been working extra hard to not only make new logos for Hallyu Back, but also make a blog that explains about the drama reviews as well as other things that are going on in my life, like the fact that I’m now a university student all over again.. except not in my home country, which of course has been a unique and interesting experience.
6. Office God 직장의 신
The first episode of this one will air April 1st on Korean channel KBS2. More than any other reason I’m looking forward to it for Kim Hye Soo. Duh!^^
5. When a Man Loves 남자가 사랑할 때
The first episode of this one will air April 3rd on Korean channel MBC. Seong Seung Heon and Shin Se Kyung team up in a drama that’s looking like it might be one of the best romantic Korean dramas of 2013. We’ll have to watch and see to find out!
4. Monstar 몬스타
The first episode of this one will air April 6th on Korean channel MNet. This one is all about teens healing themselves through the power of music and stars Yong Joon Hyung. I’m thinking it’s gonna be a hit!
3. Heaven’s Order 천명
The first episode of this one will air April 24th on Korean channel KBS2. This one takes place during the Joseon era about a medical practitioner who struggles to save his daughter from a terminal illness. Oh, and there’s something about a plot to poison the human race in there too!
2. All About my Date 내 연애의 모든것
The first episode of this one will air April 4th on Korean channel SBS. This one stars Shin Ha Kyun and Lee Min Jung and is about politics and the complications that happen when emotions get in the way.
1. Gu Family Book 구가의 서
The first episode of this one will air April 8th on Korean channel MBC. There’s a lot of hype around this one, and I’m thinking that Choi Kang Chi, who was born as a half-human-half-mythical-creature, will delight. We shall see!
Anyways, I’m super excited for this Top 5 Friday!!! And if you’re reading this, I love you for checking out this blog and all the hard work we put into it. We could NOT do it without you. ^ㅆ^
