“Rose of Friendship”
Acrylic on Canvas – April 2015
I’ve been working on trying to adjust to the concept of having family close by. It’s actually a huge blessing to be able to see them whenever I want. But it doesn’t mean that I’ve forgotten my family in Korea. I actually got a message from my dear friend Megan (ChonunMigookSaram) who told met that she looks at the Goodbye painting of flowers everyday. She’s definitely one aspect that I miss here in New York. We’re still in a definite transitioning phase and as part of that I still really have yet to make any friends close by.
One of my first childhood friends was also named Megan and I went to the movie theater for the first time and had my first sleepover when Megan had a birthday party. We went to see Beauty and the Beast. To this day roses and that movie remind me of friendship. I miss Megan in Korea – having coffee and bingsu, talking anime and video ideas. I’m grateful that I have Richard – but he’s a boy and he doesn’t geek out like that. Here’s to girl friends!
