“Seoul Tower Locks of Love”
Abstract Acrylic on Canvas – April 2016
My second date with hubs we went to the Seoul tower – and no, we did not put up locks.. nor did we on future trips – there are no hallyuback love locks in Korea. But, I did find love that has far sustained any of my expectations then. At the base of the tower is a park, which I sketched, in colored pencil after going in 2009. This is my first real time trying to recreate that picture at all. I took a lot of artistic liberty and created an abstract version of it. I threw a bunch of green because when I think of American spring I think of green but Korean spring is all about the pink. I thought it would be a fun spin to see a lot of green. I also used pink and purple jewel tones to show the locks, and at certain key points in the painting.
