Untethered – Acrylic on Canvas
November 2019, 36×48 inches / 91×122 cm
A finger paint created live at an art festival in Florida near the Gulf of Mexico. I wanted to create a serene happy cloud painting that completely contradicted my inner turmoil. To be honest, a lot of my paintings are created in order to feature what I want to feel and now my state of mind or being at the time they were made. It was the second day of scorching heat, and the second day of painting live for 7 hours. I needed to make something that would allow me to zen out and go to that inner happy place. What emerged is striking. I’ve painted many clouds over the years but this painting feels next level to me. Unlike the other boats in the painting, the viewer isn’t tethered to the pilings but instead is either coming in or going out to explore the vast beauty before them on their own boat of their imagination.
