“Urban Decay”

I’m a girl from a small town who has chosen more or less to spend her life living in and around cities. And they never stop having an impact on me. They are gorgeous, glamorous, flashy and corrupt. People from all different walks of life and lifestyle choices live there. And the cities literally buzz both with electricity as well as the energy of all of the people in it!

While not New York City, this painting reminds me of when I was visiting my friend Jessi in Queens and we took a trip to Brooklyn Bridge Park in the evening. Looking across the river into Manhattan, I deeply pondered the city and the inner workings of it all. Cities can be terrible places, but also magical spaces! I choose to view it as the latter..
