“Wake Up Totoro”

Throughout the rest of 2017, every month they are going to be showing a film by Ghibli studios in theaters around the US. In June they were showing My Neighbor Totoro. This is from the scene where Mei first discovers Totoro. I thought it very beautiful and that it would be a challenge as you’re working with what would be a dark green background – in my opinion the hardest color to paint over. I’m floored with the result. It turned out better than my expectations.
