“Wild Horses”
Abstract Acrylic on Canvas – April 2016
So I’m on this train of thinking love and what that looks like after thinking about children’s games such as He Loves Me, He Loves Me Not. This painting is a stream of consciousness style painting and as I put the paint onto the canvas I was reminded of female genetics, the embrace of love… and then I thought way back – to early childhood loves. For me it was books, cats, my friends.. and horses. I probably wouldn’t have been obsessed but I had a friend who liked them a lot and when I get interested in something I go all in! I read books about them, had lots of My Little Ponies and Grand Champions.. I even went to horse camp to learn how to ride (and trick ride!) for two summers during middle school. And in college I made my family take a jaunt out to Chincoteague Island to see the wild ponies during our family vacation. As I looked at the painting I could almost see the wild horses playing and running along the shore.
