“Wonderland”

Sometimes we need to escape reality. Most often that happens to people when they sleep but sometimes it creeps into everyday life. Whether it’s something people watch on television, on YouTube, a game, a movie, music or a good book – escapism is an integral part of our society at this point. This painting was created with this need in mind. As a child, I found myself often escaping into fantasy movies or books. Looking at it from an adult angle though, these books and movies always have a darker side to them as well. Like in painting, you showcase light by also painting in the darkness. The balance of the two is necessary. Maybe this blog doesn’t make much sense – but right now I’m trying to make sense of the dark things that I view as evil in the world – why do they have to exist? I don’t get it – I don’t like it.. what can I DO TO STOP IT? These are the questions I ask myself as I paint clouds and rainbows.
