Pink Willow

“Pink Willow”
Acrylic on Canvas – April 2016

One of my favorite varieties of Cherry blossom trees is the type that looks like a weeping willow.  Maybe because spring and cherry blossom season is such an emotional time for me that it is as if the trees are crying with me.  And in that somehow someway I feel better.  Like if I could hide out under the branches – leaning up against the trunk somehow my problems would all disappear and I’d be in my own beautiful and happy world.
A poem I think appropriate for this painting:

Everyone feels grief
when cherry blossoms scatter.

Might they then be tears –
those drops of moisture falling

in the gentle rains of spring?
