Acrylic on Canvas – Summer 2014
I was in a mode where I wanted to paint things that I had never seen but had only heard about or experienced in stories. This scene was constructed from the better stories from my father-in-law of his time in South-east Asia. So many of his memories are dark, but I wanted to create a painting full of light. I’ve only really been to Cambodia and Thailand for tropical places with bungalows. Neither one is fully reflected in this painting, but I used my imagination, tried to think outside of the box and let my fingers do the talking. Perhaps I should note, that this is a finger-painting. Regardless, I was happy with the results, and hope you enjoy it as well!
