YouTube is holding its first ever video music awards ceremony (the ‘YTMAs’) this coming November 3rd, 2013. YouTubers are being flown to New York City, London and Seoul to participate in the ceremony. We were selected to represent YouTube in Seoul and.. we are psyched! ^^

We were contacted by YouTube earlier this month, and asked to apply to be a part of this amazing show. We immediately filled out the application online, and for days heard nothing. At 3am one morning right when we were crawling into bed Richard received an email from YouTube headquarters telling us we had been selected! We COULD NOT SLEEP AFTER THAT!!!!! We were too excited thinking about being representatives for such an awesome event like this.

We still feel like we are still just getting started with making videos on YouTube. It has been just over a year since we started doing it regularly, and things have already changed so much. When we began uploading consistently in September of 2012, we really had no idea what to expect. Hardly anyone knew what we were doing, and not many people who were interested in Asian dramas had even heard of us. Making videos was hard, and we didn’t even have a blog to go with it. Our friends had no idea how much time we were sinking into videos every week, and explaining to our parents what we were trying to do was almost pointless.

We have really come a long way, and yet we know we are still yet barely scratching the surface. The future’s uncertain, but we do know one thing for sure: We can’t wait to be a part of the biggest YouTube-related even to ever come to Korea! This is gonna be HUGE!! We are humbled that YouTube has chosen us along with other big channels to participate in the awards ceremony and collaborate together.

We don’t exactly know what to expect. We know this: We will be staying in a hotel in Seoul for the week leading up to the awards ceremony. YouTube is inviting other big YouTubers from around Korea and also flying in others who don’t live here so we can all collab and make videos together promoting the awards show. Then on November 3rd, 2013 we will be given all access to the show to record our own footage and see some of the acts that are performing in Seoul first hand. Will it be Kpop? Will Psy be there? We don’t know yet!!!

This is a wonderful opportunity to see how others make videos and learn from them. We do work hard to constantly make our content better, but we are only two people and our knowledge of trying to make fun and interesting videos is still not that extensive. Working with others who may have been doing this a lot longer than us is an unbelievable opportunity for us.

The YTMAs (YouTube Music Awards) are an awards ceremony where fans get to choose the winners of their favorite artists. Nomination will be released October 17th, 2013 and voting takes place after that.

Some acts that will be performing during the YTMAs include Eminem, Lady Gaga, Arcade Fire, Collective cadenza and Lindsey Stirling. Acts will be performing in NYC, London and Seoul as well as Moscow and Rio De Janerio.

Thanks to YouTube, we can take the next big step in our YouTubing lives!  We can’t wait to get started!!!
