Korean Dramas where the rich guy who falls for the poor girl is a trope that has been SOOOOOO overused in Kdramas! However, it has become a quintessential theme that many of us have come to love over the years.

It’s the Cinderella princess story line that girls are fed at a young age and swoon for.ย  I myself was raised with the idea that you’re poor now but maybe you’ll meet that guy and have your happily ever after. It’s actually quite toxic logic if you ask me – both for the girl and the guy – because to truly have a strong power couple you’ve got to have equals & a girl with stronger intuition than what products best clean a dirty wood floor.

But, as we all know the world is changing and male/female equality is much more important than it was even 5 years ago. I have to say I’m glad about it. This list shows this diversification. The number of rich guy poor girl dramas is balanced with woman supporting her man dramas. To think I remember when the nuna concept was foreign and storylines like You’re My Pet were considered “fetish”. As someone who works with my man who often reminds me that in many ways he’s working for me – it’s been eye-opening and encouraging.

We need more strong women roles in positions of power but for too long it’s not been acceptable and one way that collective ideas are changed is through media. Story lines with strong women at the helm are just one way that this is going to happen.ย  It makes me excited for what the future has in store!

Happy Drama Watching everyone!! ๐Ÿ™‚
