Teen dramas have always been a popular Korean Drama genre, and was one that I used to watch a lot of when I first started getting into Korean Dramas.

One huge trend that I’m seeing is that a lot of dramas targeting younger people are switching over to the web drama format that can be watched on cellphones and therefore on the go rather than on the television screen.

One that I’m really excited about is Somehow 18. The story looks like it’s going to be interesting and tackle some tougher issues like bullying and suicide but also be lighthearted and even comedic at times. Not to mention its starring Lee YuBi and Minho both of whom I greatly respect as actors.

Two honorable mentions I need to note that I didn’t talk about in the video are Mermaid’s Prince which looks like a fantastic romantic comedy but hasn’t had any information released as to starting date or casting, and Strongest Deliveryman. Starring Go Kyung Pyo who just played the second lead in Chicago Typewriter, its a story of a young man who had an underpriviledged upbringing so he tries to be the best scooter deliveryman he can. This is one of the most common jobs for young men in Korea, and often they are either just trying to pay their way through school or are high school dropouts.

I actually taught several who did this job when I was a college professor, and it’s nothing to scoff at. The competition is high, the danger is also high and the pay is rather low.Β  But as its a young person drama and not a high school drama it wasn’t included.Β  Not that that’s a problem, there’s more than enough dramas to fill this list!

Happy Drama Watching everyone!!!! πŸ™‚
