drifting

“Drifting”
Acrylic Painting on Canvas – September 2016

This painting was a long work in progress. You see, I had begun it last year and had been working through some deep and difficult stuff emotionally. I was facing it head on, but I couldn’t really see how things could turn out in a way that was beautiful. To me it was just vivid and stark. This left a painting with huge possibilities that I couldn’t bring myself to throw out (though hubby did throw out the suggestion on occasion) but that I didn’t quite like very much.
Fast-forward and I felt drawn to it again. And so, with more knowledge and experience I picked up the paintbrush and started to work on it. What emerged is a painting that I love. It symbolizes something deep to me that I don’t know if and or when it will ever get resolved, but at least I’ve come to peace with that realization. And so it remains.. drifting.. but happily.
