“Nazmir Blood Moon”
Acrylic on Canvas – August 2018

Something a lot of people don’t really know about me is my love for RPGs or role-playing games. In university, I spent way too much of my time playing Oblivion, Animal Crossing and other various games on the Nintendo Wii. In the past few years I’ve really gotten into the World of Warcraft universe, playing through Legion and now through the main storyline of Battle for Azeroth (henceforth referred to as BFA).

While I was leveling up my main character in BFA I began taking screenshots of the beautiful landscapes that the Blizzard artists digitally created. While I’ve been told that I still have yet to see the most beautiful zones, I was really struck by the colors and movement of the Necropolis in Nazmir. The blood moon in the sky, how it lit up the clouds, the almost but not quite monochromatic color palette. The smallest of details down to the little dragonflies that swarmed around. I NEEDED to paint it!
