Hello Lovely People! In reading your comments and concerns on YouTube and Facebook about my recent video, I saw some reoccurring themes that I thought I would address.

“Can you recycle the canvases?”

One of the most knowledgeable comments that I saw was to cover up a canvas with gesso (preferrably black) and paint again. This is something many artists have done throughout the ages to try to save money, or to create new textures. I’ve also done it in the past with varying levels of success. But the number of canvases, and my inability to forget what was originally on the piece are discouraging me from doing that in this case. That is great to do with a few canvases and I may do that more in the future.

“Have I LOST MY MIND?”

In a way, yes. I’ve surrounded myself with paintings that expressed things I wanted to express at the time but were no longer bringing me joy. It is starting to affect my emotional being. However, I truly feel that this is my way of jumping back into the story and taking control over my life.

“But your work is so good!”

From the bottom of my heart, thank you! I’m always continually striving to improve my art and challenge myself with different techniques. This is a double edged sword though that makes it harder for me to be excited looking at some of my older canvases and those that I feel I could have done better on. I will not be destroying ALL of my paintings though, and there will be plenty of great works to come!

Giveaways/Donations/etc.

Bless your giant hearts! I love a good cause and some of my earliest childhood diary entries are wanting to raise money for people who were in need. Throughout the last two years my paintings and painting streams have helped raise over $5,000 USD for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. I feel tremendously blessed and honored by that. Donating a few nicer pieces isn’t totally out of the question, but I don’t want to dump everything on a charity for them to sort out.

Moreover, I have to give a giant shout out to Mariana on YouTube whose comment made my heart sing.

“It’s very satisfying to ripe apart the canvas💆‍♀️ it’s like taking in a breath of fresh air. HAVE FUN AND ENJOY IT, IT ALSO HELP DECLUTTER YOUR MIND.👩‍🎨🍷🔪”

Cheers to that, and a fresh outlook in 2019!
